APPLY FOR PRINCIPAL REFUND AT MATURITY

The Maturity process for the Canadian and US$ Plans now requires you to enter your banking information online and upload the banking form and passport ID online. Also please note that the payment of the Maturity amount will only be made once we receive an approved EP Application from the student for their first EP.

Please login to your STI account via http://www.stiapplications.com and click on your Contract ID then the tasks button to start the process.

If you do not have a username and password please make sure you have your Contract ID handy and register your account via www.stiapplications.com/Register.aspx.(Before you register you need to verify with us the email address you want on file - please write to s.oshaughnessy@stiplan.com and provide us with the email you want to use.)

Your Contract ID is your agreement number starting with 10 for Cdn Plan and 11 for US Plan.

When you have logged in and can see your agreement(s) you should see a section called CLIENT TASKS with your agreement number. If not, please write to service@stiplan.com and quote your agreement number to ask for Maturity initiation.

If you do have pending client tasks, click on the pending item and you should see a Maturity Task. Click on Maturity, chose Request Return of Principal, then click on Primary Subscriber. A pop up box will appear where you complete all your banking information for where you want funds sent.

You must fill in all the boxes including the special instructions (enter NA if not applicable or 00 if a number that is not applicable). Then press update. Once the banking information is entered you need to download and print the banking form. To do this return to the tasks section and when you choose Primary Subscriber click on Download Bank Form. If you get an error message it means you HAVE NOT COMPLETED ALL THE BOXES IN THE BANKING POP UP. By clicking on My Banking Details you will return to the pop up box where you can make changes and save them.

For Canadian Banks we require the full 12 digit account number that includes the branch or transit number. For international banks please check with your bank to determine if an intermediary bank is required and add the information in the intermediary bank section.

The Bank Form you have downloaded needs to be printed and signed by the following people:
1. Subscriber
2. Joint Subscriber
3. Person receiving the funds (if not 1. or 2.)

Please scan your signed bank form in pdf format (make sure both pages are in a single file) and also scan in pdf format a copy of passport ID for each person who signs the Bank Form (as a single file).

Once you have downloaded the Bank Form you will see the section Upload Required Documents where there are two sections to upload the Bank Form and ID documents. Make sure that your documents are in pdf format and are no larger than 2MB in size.

Enter the expiry date of your ID – if no expiry date enter 01-01-2040. IF more than one ID enter the earliest expiry date.

When you receive a message “pending HO approval” you have completed step one of the process and will receive a notification from our system that the Maturity is approved.

There is now a second step required for Maturity called CRS (Common Reporting Standard) information. This information is required under international money transfer protocols.

Payments to subscribers and beneficiaries cannot be processed without:
  1. A completed Self Certification with respect to Tax Residency; and
  2. A document with proof of your tax residence address.
For Maturity we need the CRS Form and address proof for both subscribers and for the person who receives funds, if different.

If you want more information regarding this requirement or want to make sure it is a legitimate request, please go to https://www.gov.bm/common-reporting-standard-country-country-reporting.

Note that even if you do not have a TIN assigned by your government you still need to complete the form and sign USING YOUR NATIONAL ID number. You need to report your permanent residence country where you would pay tax if required.

When you are logged in to your STI account, go to the TIN tab and complete all the information (the address should be your permanent residence address). Press save and generate form and your CRS form will be created for you to print and sign. You will also see at the bottom of the tab two slots to upload the CRS and proof of address documents. Make sure that your documents are in pdf format and are no larger than 2MB in size.

Once both steps are completed and your Maturity is pending approval you will need to wait for the first Education Payment to be approved, after which your funds will be wire transferred to the bank account you have provided us. Please allow 21 days after approval for the funds to be deposited in your account.

The Education Payment must be applied for by the Beneficiary so have them contact us and we can provide the instructions to make the application.
